What's Up Bainbridge

Morgan Houk, Volunteer Coordinator for Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District joins us today in the What’s Up Bainbridge Studio to discuss her challenging and very rewarding job.  Along with Park District Commissioner, Dawn Janow, they discuss the important roles volunteers play to make the parks enjoyable for everyone.

We learn of the numerous opportunities to volunteer from helping to maintain over forty miles of island trails, removing noxious weeds and planting native species to helping with special events, coaching sports and being a summer camp assistant.

In this series, we continue to examine many aspects of the parks, why and how they were formed, the many changes that have occurred over the years and the several unique and varied experiences they provide for island residents of all ages.

For more information about how to volunteer in the parks, go to: https://biparks.org, scroll down the ‘Get Involved’ heading to VOLUNTEERS, read more about the many opportunities and even fill out the Volunteer Application.  You can also call 206-842-2302 to get more information.
